How it all began

The Tex-Mex taste always stayed with me, even after I moved to India in the eighties. Just any food and being creative with it was a passion I had from a very young age.

In the nineties, when I had my first opportunity, I introduced the Tex-Mex cuisine, together with hand tossed pizzas for the first time in Gujarat, namely "Ek One Uno". I opened three restaurants in Anand, Ahmedabad and Vadodara, with financial support from my mother-in-law and realised my dreams.

In India, it is probably the longest running Mexican restaurant serving handpicked authentic Mexican dishes and the hot favorite Tex-Mex gastronomical delicacies for over ten years.

All gourmet preparations at The Mexican - Tapas Bar are 100 % pure vegetarian. The delectable Tex-Mex preparations are all freshly cooked with utmost care, as are the salsas, sauces and guacamole, from tortillas chips to refried beans & Mexican rice too.

The Mexican - Tapas Bar was introduced at our 5-Star Deluxe property, Madhubhan Resort & Spa in 2009, serving vegetarian Tex-Mex Tapas in a serene lounge atmosphere. In the year 2015, The Mexican - Tapas Bar was modelled into a full-fledged extension of Madhubhan kitchens.

Her first venture, Ek One Uno, Italian Mexican restaurant was first started in Anand, 25 years ago followed by two more in Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The Mexican - Tapas Bar, serving Tex-Mex cuisine at Madhubhan Resort & Spa, a 5-Star Deluxe property (in Anand, Gujarat) was introduced a decade ago. It is probably the longest running Tex-Mex fine-dine restaurant serving only Mexican cuisine, in India, since its inception ten years ago. Now the Mexican - Tapas Bar is all set to launch its first Gourmet Cloud Kitchen, serving delectable Tex-Mex food.

Chef Rakesh excels in culinary ethos for twenty years and brings his expertise in food & beverage, and culinary operations at many luxurious brands from India and abroad. In his added role, Chef Rakesh is handling The Mexican Tapas Bar management team of over 180 employees in 20 Gourmet Cloud Kitchen locations. He is geared up to accelerate The Mexican - Tapas Bar mission of commencing a Gourmet Cloud Kitchen revolution.

Chef Rakesh enjoys experimenting with fresh ingredients to morph items into pure and exciting flavour profiles that surpass guests' experience with every bite. His passion for cooking has enabled him to curate aesthetically appealing preparations with the perfect blend of flavours.

Chef Rakesh firmly takes up Madhubhan core values of creating professional development, empowerment, and discipline as the most important enablers for healthy organizational culture. During his leisure time, Chef Rakesh loves to explore local cuisines, travels to offbeat destinations with family, and enjoys his culinary journey.

An accomplished hotelier with a prodigious proficiency of over Three decades, presently spearheads Madhubhan Resort & Spa as the President with a dictum to deliver nothing less than excellence. His belief; "You have to do things right, the first time, and every time."


Started his career with ITC Welcomgroup Vadodara, the First Five Star Hotel of Gujarat in 1986. Having served in ITC for about 21 years with Food & Beverage as his specialization, he joined Surya Palace Vadodara as General Manager, and in the year 2009, took assignment with Madhubhan Resort & Spa as General Manager. He believed in building and nurturing Team Madhubhan to principally drive the underlying spirit of "Atithee Devo Bhava" triumphing through its DNA.

Under his leadership, Madhubhan Resort & Spa was classified as, "The First Ever Five Star Deluxe" property of Gujarat and he is Gujarat’s First General Manager to achieve this feat. His team is credited with establishing Madhubhan as the Best Luxury destination of Gujarat and one of the best in the country. He has also been the driving force in winning State, National and International awards & accolades for Madhubhan Resort & Spa

Chef Shilp Shah

With over ten years of experience in culinary trends development, Chef Shilp expresses his love for food by playing with ingredients from around the world. His signature is introducing new culinary trends and products.

He has a vast knowledge of global cuisines such as Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, and Asian, and can be apparently seen in his creative recipes crafted on his culinary journey.

Over the years, Chef Shilp has developed his own standards of cooking, with a deep commitment to hospitality. He is committed to instilling the highest standards in food preparation, and administrative skill sets in setting up Gourmet Cloud Kitchen.

He excels in the culinary domain and is responsible for managing restaurant operations, kitchen management, banquet event operations, and ensuring rich cuisines to achieve guest experiences through his passion for culinary excellence.

Chef Naresh Gurung

Chef Naresh Gurung is one of our best chefs known for his passion for food and takes it to a new level. He artistically combines Indian food with global cuisines, and is a huge Tex-Mex fan. His dedication to innovating new recipes is indeed worth applause. Chef Naresh began his culinary journey with Madhubhan kitchens in Anand district.

In this added mission role, Chef Naresh will lead his culinary team and explore time techniques, setting up Mexican spice development, standardizing recipes and managing teams. Chef Naresh brings not only his leadership and culinary expertise to the table, but also his passion for bringing people together through innovative dining experiences. He looks forward to exploring opportunities to enrich the taste of our Tex-Mex inspired recipes.
